The Centre for Territory, Environment and Construction (C-TAC) is a R&D unit of the School of Engineering of University of Minho, recognised by the “FCT-Fundação para a Ciência e Tecnologia, UI 4047” (Foundation for Science and Technology). Its activities are developed within the campi of Guimarães and Braga and using important laboratory facilities. The R&D methodologies applied include computer simulation, laboratory testing and field works. The Unit uses several laboratory facilities for construction technology, soil testing, hydraulics, materials, GIS, and transport infrastructures, supporting technology transfer for the community.

 

C-TAC develops innovative and improves existing knowledge in territorial and cities sustainable development focus in environmental topics. The Unit strategy will continue strengthening its activity around the main area of Sustainable Development supported by a knowledge-hub focus in geotechnics, pavements, environment, transport, water resources, spatial planning and construction. Through the outstanding research work C-TAC members are internationally recognised and are invited to take part in several Editorial Boards of journals, technical committees, scientific committees and reviewers of international journals.

 

C-TAC develops its activity through three research groups: Transport and Energy Infrastructures; Planning, Environment and Water Resources; Sustainable Construction.
